Solstice

Winter Solstice. the solstice is here after a strange December. Rain and more rain . Some amazing sunrises , some grey and atmospheric days and that wonderful light.

To mark the occasion I popped to Arbor Low which to my joy was deserted. I had my sketchbook and tools and a Solstice offering. The energy and vibrations were strong , the wind was cold and the sky was big. Perfection. Winter is here.

Atmospheric Conditions

I could see from home that Stanton Moor was shrouded in mist and low cloud, overnight rain had left everything soaked .Still the rather moody conditions were all the invitation I needed to head out . Ran into Neil Wilmot at the Corkstone before deciding to base myself at the trig point.Had a good hour or so with my sketch book and a limited palette before the heavens baptised me again. It seemed rude not to treat myself to a warm Homity Pie for dinner from Dawn at Peak Feast in Youlgreave . Good times if not a tad damp.

After the Rains.

At last a thin watery sunlight filters through the dark clouds. After the endless rain and local flooding there is ,at least for today, some blue sky .The winds have dropped . Everything is still on this mid November afternoon. I spend most of the day clearing my studio ready for a big project coming early in the New Year.

Also delivered 12 new paintings to Isla Fine Art in Buxton .I’ve been working on these for a while and rather like the new bird images that have appeared!
