Although the weather has been unusually warm many days have been overcast with leaden skies and no wind. The “Shire” has been dormant and grey . Flock of gulls from the coast have returned as “muck-spreading” begins. They battle with the rooks, crows and jackdaws for the pickings on the land . Thousands of starlings gather for the evening “murmeration” on Middleton Moor. The wingbeat make an incredible sound as they pass overhead. That apart we still roam the trails and paths and still manage the occasional picnic in the stillness. Great music from Matthew Halsall and Dylan Howe in the car.
